Blackjack History
The game of blackjack originated in French casinos around the 1700's. Originally it was known by the name“vingt-et-un”, meaning, twenty-and-one. In the 1800's blackjack was being played in the USA and from this time it began to take popularity in other casinos around the world. Originally blackjack was the name of one of its bet pay-outs which if a blackjack was in a winning hand it would pay 10 to 1 odds. However is pay-out has since been excluded from the game.

Blackjack Overview
The fundamentals of this casino game is relatively easy to learn. The main objective in blackjack is to obtain cards to the value of 21. In essence you have to beat the dealers hand to win. Alternatively (depending on the blackjack variation) obtain the same face value as the Dealer which returns your bet; also know as a push.

The ultimate intension is to gain a single face card and a single Ace. These two cards add to twenty one, hence the other name that blackjack is know by, 21.

Blackjack Strategy
To improve any table or casino game for that matter; all except slots, it's always a good idea to check out some basic game play strategy knowledge before playing. Please find below a few easy to follow examples that will assist your blackjack game.

Playing Blackjack:
All players place their bets on the table (all tables have a min bet and maximum bet limit), the dealer begins to deal a single card to each player face up, commencing the deal to the player on the dealers left hand side, finally dealing him/herself a card which is also placed face up. This action is then repeated to all players. The dealer does not receive a second card in this deal. At this point players have the choice to either hit; stand; split or fold.

When all players have made their desired bets and have either busted, folded or are sitting on their hand, the dealer takes their second card. The dealer must keep taking cards until they reach the total of 17 or more when they stand.

The object is to beat the dealers hand. Otherwise it is to draw with the dealer. In which case the player does not lose their bet; the bet is returned to the player. Obtaining 21 or blackjack pays 3:2 all other wins pay 2:1. All accept a push which pays 1:1 return.
